Stupid sub question...

I don't know a lot about car audio. I have replaced door speakers and headunits before, but I have never messed with amps or subs. I'd like a little more bass in my truck though. I'm thinking about either an Infinity Basslink (compact self powered 10" sub) or an MTX Thunderform with the optional amp. Anyway, will these work with a "stock" headunit? Mine isn't original to the truck; it came from a '00 F-150 and is an AM/FM/CD head unit that I think is meant to power four speakers (it's powering two now), but it's not aftermarket. How should everything be wired up? I'd prefer to keep the headunit because it looks nice and has RDS (scrolling song names, radio station info, etc...).

I just installed a Basslink in my truck. I purchased a Schoshe Line Out Converter and tapped into the speaker wires from the radio and that converts the speaker lever outputs to low-level outputs. I then just ran the RCA's and remote turn on to my Basslink and ran the power wire through the firewall and grounded to the seatbelt bolt.

Just like said above, you can go to pretty much any car audio store and you can get a High/Low Converter. Best bet is to connect it to the rear speakers. You would Make a Y connection so you have the feed from the head unit but than brances off into the high low converter but still goes to the speaker so it continues playing it stuff. On the other end of the converter are the RCA Outputs, so you can hook up the Left/Right audio to that and than run that to the back of the sub. And the remote, you can run that to anything that has powere really but best bet is somethin that is ACC Switch, you can also connect that to the speaker if you want. So pretty much everythin that mjktg99 said is correct but I know people like getting a few options but his way is the best say.
