I'm not 100% sure but I think it could eventually damage your speaker to run it without a box! Definitely build yourself a box. Even if you build a ****ty one it'll sound/pound way better than it ever would without one. Measure to see how big of a box will fit behind there, then build it as big as you can, making sure the sub will fit in it (depthwise.) Cut some sort of a hole for the port and you're good to go.

There's a lot more to box building than that, but any half-*** box will sound way better. Don't feel bad, in my first vehicle I had a massive ugly bare plywood box packed with blankets and 2 15" home audio woofers in it. Ghetto to the max.

As for your amp, I would put it under the seat. If you can't do that, mount it to the box or the back wall.

PM me if you want to try building a box. I can probably find you lots of information on the interweb, and if you can give me the model #'s of your amp and sub I could give you better information. Building boxes is fun, try it!

If there's no way to get the sub to fit in a box behind the seat, you'll have to get a shallow mount sub, or a bigger truck.

Haha, that's ghetto. I'd love to hear how that sounds. Can you say distortion? Does the surround not slap off the cab wall?

That is truly a 'custom' mount. If you like it like that, so be it. But it is wrong in every possible way.

HEY you should see if the magnet will stick to your metal roof and you can hang it directly over your head :P

Hmm . . . the neon light really adds to the "clean install" factor.

Prime example of do it right, or don't do it at all. +1 Ghetto point

If you think it hits now, you just wait till you get it in a box. I mean i dont know how good of subs you have, but i sure can say that ANY sub will sound 1000x better in a box.

oh and 22? PPPSSSSHHH! 32 MAN!!

not to rain on your parade, but i bet you already blew a voice coil and your sub may sound like **** when you get a box ..... cause i used to haev a kicker comp 12 in my old civic that wasnt quite sealed into the box cause the back of the magnet hit and it only lasted a few months before blowing up

yeah, i thought of that. but i got the sub from a friend for $20 so its really not that big of a loss for me. yeah, i would have to get another sub, but thats when its time to upgrade.

its a weak link in the system. flexing and temperature change is hell on adhesives.
