help me out
i looking to upgrade my system because as of right now i have a blown subwoofer.
i have a kenwood 1000w max amp (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1198888991131)
and im going to build the box out of MDF and plan on using most of the backseat
but would 2 12's with a lower rms sound better or would 1 12 with a higher rms
im going for sound quality, but still somewhat loud. let me know your opinions, what you would do. my budget is about $500, and i dont really wanna replace the amp if i dont have to because i bought it about a month ago, and it blew the 12 i had.
any input is appreciated. thanks

I have 2 MBQuart 12" subs which are about 400rms each, i'm running them with an 800rms amp. They are superb for sound quality, and I got em a few years ago for under $300 for both. Elemental Designs are sweet too as someone mentioned. Resonant Engineering's are very nice too, but expensive. I know someone with 1 1000 Watt RMS ResonantAudio SE, 12", and it's loud, but probably not as loud as you want, it's not overkill, sometimes it may not be enough depending on how loud and clear the rest of your speakers are. I love my dual 12" setup...they are fairly low rms each and produce awesome sound quality and can still be loud enough to match the volume of the rest of my speakers.
It's hard to get a high volume from subs in a Ranger, especially with the windows up, so I recommend 2 speakers, whether you go with 10's or 12's.
