I finally ordered an amp. Its a profile AP1000M mono amp.
Specs:
Peak Output Power(4 Ohms): 650W x 1
RMS Output Power(4 Ohms): 310W x 1
Peak Output Power(2 Ohms): 1000W x 1
RMS Output Power(2 Ohms): 500W x 1

I plan to run one sub at 2ohms to get the most use out of it. So what sub should I go with? I am limited on space, as far as sub depth goes. I had Rockford P1s in there last, and the magnet barely sits off of the back wall of the box. And I'd like to keep the cost somewhere around 100 bucks. So what do you think?

 

I just looked it up, and if its the same one you got, its 6 7/8" deep, which would be too deep. And I think I'll get a 12" sub.

 

It might be kinda hard to find a 500 watt sub for around $100 besides the type-R. You could get a W3v3 for $179-200 am I'm sure it would sound good. I don't know about the space though.

 

TC-DB500? Can't remember my mounting depth though.

 

Those are beefy. I'd get one, but it may be to deep.......I'll have to get a measurement and see what I can do. For the 10" TC-DB500, its depth is 6.5" and for the 12, its 7.5".

The TC-1000 10" looks like it would be the only one that would be likely to fit.

 

I fit mine in with no problem.

i would go with a nice 8" sub, thats all i have and it sounds great.
makes everything shake and rattle, and hits super hard.

 

without loosing leg room?

I want deep too, not just hard hitting. My brother had 2 8s in his ranger and it felt like a back messager.......wasn't deep at all.

I have my brothers old 8s in my truck now.....im just not convinced about 8s........

 

look into 2 kicker l7 8s, 450rms and 900 max a piece...not all that mounting deep and sound DEEPER then anything u would want lol

Were you implying that TC is a bad company or manufacturer? Just asking didnt get what you meant. I did lose leg room and I do have a regular cab. You wont get deep bass like you want without sacrificing leg room. You have a little more space than I do though because mine is a 91 and you can use the whole back.

 

Audiobahn........not sure one the details. On the magnet, it said 200watts. Since im only going to run one sub, i'd rather go with a 10 or a 12.

 

I had one 12 and then went to 2 10s...I have a 12 sitting on my dresser haha. You will like either one.

 

the size of the sub really doesn't matter, ive seen two 8's that sound like they would be massive.

being that its 600 watts max and dual voice coil, it should work great with the amp you have, and its only $50 shipped.

 

Subs are all about surface area, x axis movement, and some power. Think about it if you have a 10 inch sub the has the total excursion of 1.3 inches compared to a 8 inch with the same then which one would hit harder and deeper? Also it is a fact that the larger the sub the deeper it can go. It also depends on the box and amplifier.

 

well yeah i know that, but im just saying, all he really needs for a reg cab is a single 8.

Thats kinda what im trying to say is that a bigger sub will move more air b/c of its bigger surface area.

 

And I kinda want the wow factor (if you want to call it that) of a bigger sub with more power in a small cab.

 

If you're willing to wait til late summer or so... JL is making a shallow 13" sub that has a mounting depth of only 2.5". Can handle up to 400W at 4 ohms.
