Tweeters, mid-ranges?

my first mod was a head unit and replace door speakers. But everywhere, people talk about tweeters and mid-ranges and component systems. What are all these, i've checked them out, but wondering if i need a component system for tweets?

A component system is a system where the woofer and tweeter are seperated and the frequenies are seperated passivly or actively by a crossover.

These are considered better becuase you can mount the tweeters for optimum sound and are not stuck mounting the woofer and tweeter together.

In your normal coaxial door speaker, the tweeter is mounted in the middle of the woofer. By using a component system and moving the tweeter to a different location, you can not only optimize the sound from the tweeter via a new location, but you also remove the interference of the sound waves from the woofer and the tweeter when they are mounted together.

Also, you can feed more power to each woofer and tweeter when they are seperate. More power = better sound.

I prefer silk tweeters and a good off-axis response.

I've got Boston Acoustic Pro60 components waiting to go into my truck. They sound miles and miles better beyond any coaxial speaker.

Yes they place your door/rear speakers. The mid goes where the old 5x7 goes and then the tweeter goes wherever it will sound the best to you. A-pillar or door somewhere.

I have 2 set of components, front and rear. They are the mb quart DCE-216'2 and the PCE-216s. I ended up mounting my tweeters in the plastic bezel right under the windshield and the x-overs in the glove box. The sound is amazing and crisp!

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and do it, but now I'm still a lil confused, how many do i need? I'm going to replace all 4 doors, so does that mean 4? or do they come in sets of 2? and where do you recomend the tweets to be located, some of you said higher than my leg, which makes sense? but please help
