Upgrading stock center sub
Upgrading stock center sub
I have a 2004 Ranger Edge with the Pioneer 6cd unit. There's a stock sub (8" maybe?) in the center console. It's pretty nice, but I was thinking about upgrading that sub. Would that be possible? Don't really want to spend a bunch of money on amps, new unit, speakers, etc if I can just buy a better sub and install it in the same place. Is it that easy? What are my options? Thanks
The center sub is a 6.5 inch. It will be hard finding one that is 6.5 and that isn't too deep for the stock enclosure. Also the stock amp probably isn't powerful enough to power a more powerful sub so it may sound quiet.
when i goto work tommorow ill pull up some diagrams of that console and see if they will fit. I bought them in pairs, I paid 130 bucks for those so im negotiable on price. Im also sure some other members can chime in and tell you how to get that stock sub out
Here are some pictures.
It isnt hard at all you dont have to remove your seat or anything but kinda helpful
First take off the oval covers to expose the bolts holding on the armrest

There are 2 bolts under the cup holder and the little tray that you remove

Pull the back part out The part the Amp and speaker are attached to are connected to this part.

This is the exact Diagram for the console you have so it may help
