If I play music over the PA, is it considered an upgraded stereo?

i do sound quality..and the W7 might not be "the best sub ever" but it captures a vaste range of bass and the fact its a "mainstream" sub thats easy to get your hands on..that helps..its pricey as far as your choices go at your local shops but in reality the equivilent sub that is more rare will cost you much more. I dont look for a sub that just blast out high Dbs of distorted noise...i like wide range and crisp..the W7 does that well.

the 12s are going in my new truck.

No way, I lost 1 click on backward travel on the driver side. I can still rest the back of my seat against the rear wall. I don't because I don't want to sit too far back, or to smother my amps.

The passenger does lose about 2.5-3" of rearward travel, and it inclines about 2" away from the rear wall because of the speaker grill.

Plenty of room for me, and i'm 6' 200+ pounds.

I drove to arkansas last weekend, had the stereo playing hard for about 5 hours of the 8 hour trip. Absolutely no issues with overheating. Plus the subwoofer does a great job giving you a back massage... :)
