Ford has some weird wiring. I just went through this on my 98 stock wires. Hooked up aftermarket jl audio component speakers using the stock wiring and they sounded terrible. I double triple checked wiring was correct and could not get them to sound even halfway decent. Finally I just pulled my own wires and Presto, perfect sound. I believe ford uses weird common gounding and wiring in series or something,it has to be.
