Will they hit hard?

OK ....this guy told me that his friend wants to sell his two 12" MTX Subs...there pushing 350 a sub. and there both in one box...if the box isn't custom built...I'll probably build one myself to make sure air space and all that little stuff is right.....but do you think two 12" subs like that will hit??? fairly hard??? and if so....what kind of amp/ how powerful of an amp should I get?
thanks for the advice

Dude, goto Circuit City in Cedar Hill and talk to Wes or Brandon. They can show you a 10" MTX sub in a ported box and its pretty loud. If youre on a budget, then they are good.

Sounds good.

I liked the one I had in my ranger. Was about to upgrade from a Thunder 4500 to a thunder 5500 right before i totalled the truck.

MTX is a good brand. Price sounds like a cheap deal, but will they hit hard really depends on box, amp, and what model subs they are. Potential is there, and as long as they aren't 4-5 years old and worn out, chances are it's a good deal.

you should take a listen to those subs and make sure nothing is wrong with them. mtx's are good subs. you should contact a dealer with the model # of them and ask what the RMS power for them are. then look at amps.

As other members said, you need a model # so you can know exactly what your buying.More than likely 350 watts is the max wattage so rms is usually half that number.I d get an amp rated at 200 x 2 watts rms. Sounds like a good deal but listen to them before you buy....even if it is just $45.00.

Dude your going to be eating up most of your extended cab with 12's if your going to get proper air behind them... go to MTX's site and check out the thunderforms, custom for each vehicle. I'm getting the 10's and they dont eat up my extended cab at all. (Mount floor down.) as for how they sound we'll see when i get them installed on Feb. 8th.

Why 2 speakers when you can double the volume... Same difference.
But 12"s will hit lower than 10"s

In a perfect world, I would run a 15" and a 10". But I don't want to give up any more space...

yea I don't wanna do that at all but I did have an idea for a box maybe.....What if I got someone to build me a box.....one that would stand up if I hafta a little higher than my back window....behind my seat....One 12 Shootin up out of the top....and make it j/wide enough for one to shoot out the side? and maybe if there is enough room mount the amp on the bottom of the side of the box, below the sub shootin out the side.....I don't know alot about boxes or audio for that matter sooo tell me if yall think this is a good idea....or if it just wont work....

Well yeah, i'd go for two 12's over two 10's NE day, its just volume wise to maintain the ext cab its near imposible without eating up both the back seats if not, just one. When i was deciding on what system i wanted to go for i came across a few customs boxes, mostly either one 10 or 12 that sat just behind the consol (which you could still use both your back seats) or one that eats up the seats.

You have to decide if you want to eat up your back seats, if your gonna, go all the way and get a full box. If not then look into a custom 10 or the MTX one's.

If i wanted all system i'd go for a dual coil 15 with like 1000W RMS behind it and a box to match lol but i want my back seats.

OK...but can yall tell me if this would be a good idea or not??? please?

Box..... One big box behind my seat..... One 12 shooting out of the top....and one 12 shooting out the side....and the amp beneath it....srry im creative but something like this.....

sorry about the quality and it being sooo small...the top divet is subwoofer #1...the one on the side close to the top is subwoofer #2....and the bottom thing sticking out is where the amp could be mounted.....tell me what ya think...and if it's even possible... or if you have any better ideas...remember this is behind my seat....

Maybe we can butt heads and build you one. I have all the tools needed, just need you to buy the MDF. I could even show you how to get cheap wood from Home Depot =)

Well if your going all out for two 12's that you have then a custom box is the way to go, its just not smart to have them pointing two differnt ways. I'm sure it would mess up the sound a bit. Maybe just have it as tall as your seat and talking up half the room behind you. One on top the of the other
