I just installed the Pioneer 290 watt sub and amp console. This is the sub/amp assembly:



I'm not entirely sure how to wire up the amp and sub. These are the wires for the amp and the schematic:



Black/Light Green (2 wires) - Grounds
Violet/Light Blue (2 wires) - VBatt (Hot at all times)
White/Purple (violet) - Enable

Shielded wires with ground wire:
Light Blue/Red - negative
Light Green/Black - positive

The wiring schematic for this assembly is for the 04 Ranger. I have the 02 CD6 headunit and was hoping to tap the amp into that system. Will I need to tap the negative and positive wires above to the negatives and positives for all four speakers? Also, what would the white/purple "Enable" wire need to be connected to? I presume I can ground the shield wire to the ground from the HU.

Any and all useful information is appreciated.

 

i belive the violet/light blue is the "remote" wire to turn the amp on....

 

Would it tap into the wire that refers to the power button the HU, correct?

 

with a stock headunit, i don't know which wire it would tap into.....i know on an aftermarket radio, it would go into the blue wire...

 

My schematic is back home...I'll consult it later...this has to be a doable mod...

 

All your wiring is good to go from what you typed up there. The enable wire could either be 12 volts or 5 volts, that unfortunately is something that Ford does not label in the schematics. I would venture to say its 12 volts.

 

Bill....I pulled out my 2002 CD6 headunit and there is a spade connector on the back of the unit (perhaps to hook up the shield wire to as its grounding point) and the 20 pin plug, in pins 4,5, and 6 there is the word "AMP" above the pins. The question then is, do the White/Violet, Blue/Red, and Blue/Black wires correspond to these pins and if so, which go where?


Does anyone have the info on what pins correspond to what functions? This is the 2002 CD6 unit, Ford Part number 1C3F-18C815-AB

 

Okay, I looked over things and here is what I think MAY work:

Shield - tap to BK ground on HU harness
BK/LG (2) - tap to BK/LG on HU harness
VT/LB (2) - tap to LG/VT on HU harness
WH/VT - tap to YE/BL on HU harness
LG/BK (+) - tap to OG/LG, WH/LG, GY/LB, OG/RD
LB/RD (-) - tap to LB/WH, DG/OG, TN/YE, BN/PK

Don't know if this will work, but it's the best I can figure out thus far.

 

I don't think using the 20-pin will work for the amp. This is from an Explorer 20-pin:

4 not used
5 ASYS On (to rear control panel)
6 Audio Corporate Protocol A (to rear control panel and remote CD changer)

AMP is the name of a company that makes a large variety of electronic connectors including the rear plug receptacles on many Ford OE radios. That is probably the "AMP" that you saw on the back.

 

Well nuts....looks like I'm swapping HU.
