i'v never heard of doing it that way..everyone I talk to about it tell me to never allow the engine to shut down or it will be a b*tch trying to get the truck to start back up..can someone clarify that for me..also...do i add seafoam until the truck quits smoking for how does that go? Thanks

What are the consequences if you screw up...? Sounds like youd have to screw up on purpose to do anything wrong.. but im just curious..?
Hydrolock. Although I've never heard of anyone actually having this happen.

Just make sure you don't let the booster tube suck the Seafoam in all at once. Pour 1/3 of the can into a seperate container, put your thumb over the hose and let it off enough so the hose sucks the Seafoam in SLOWLY. Do that and you'll be fine.

Yeah i definitely want to do this, even though my truck only has 38K on it i sure its sucked in alot of crap from all the offroad trips.. that and i'll do it on my dads 100k 4x4 Exploder.

Are there other places that you can "put it in" to clean or is the brake booster the place to do it?

I did it a while back & it shut off, but nothing happened, it started right back up.

I have never heard of this seafoam stuff. Where do you get it? Is it an engine detergent?

I spoke with a mechanic friend from work and he said to try it. He told me where to get the stuff and I did all 3 of my vehicles. I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado with 145k, 2001 mustang with 80k and a 2002 ranger with 50k. I also installed my first mod today on my ranger. I installed a K&N FIPK intake. Didn't notice mutch difference though. I probably need to do the exhaust to notice. But I did the seafoam on all 3 car intakes and also on my chevy oil. When I noticed a drop in power on my chevy, sorry, my wifes chevy, i put on a cat back and an intake. That made a difference!!!! 80k miles have since passed and once I did the seafoam in the brake booster line and then half a can in the oil................. I changed out the oil and ran synthetic for the first time. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLy CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!! Thank you all for such a wonderful discovery! My wife drives this truck every day and she said she noticed a big difference! I didn't tell her what I did. I just said let's go to dinner someplace far and had her drive. 2 blocks down the road she smiled and said" What did you do to my truck?" So............. if a woman can notice the difference............ To me.......... It's definately worth it.

I do believe that if you do this you do need to drive the heck out of it after it is done. I totally glazed the plugs on my chevy. Both the mustang and Ranger did fine. My plugs on my Chevy were snow white!

I will always use this stuff in any vehicle I buy used. It really does a great job cleaning things out.

I tried the seafoam on my ranger today. I put it though my manifold line, down the oil tube, and with what I had left down in the gas tank. I found out it helps to have a friend in the driver seat to keep the truck running if you suck to much(not hard to do.) when you first start adding it in the manifold line it throws the idle off. So that is why a it helps to have a friend with his foot on the gas. You have to let the truck sip the fluid. I read the instructions on the bottle and used a liquid measuring cup to make sure I used the right amount. After I let the truck sit for 5min I cranked it back up and it smoked out the neighborhood for about 3min, then I got in and drove it like a bat out hell for a couple of miles. Smoked for a little while during hard acceleration but cleared up after a mile or so. All in all this stuff is cheap and works truck runs smoother and has a little more get up. 2003 ford ranger 4x4 43K
