Well, my driver side pinstripe got fubar from a Amaho carwash, blew chunks off (bastards).



How do I go about removing them and there glue and whatever else it may leave behind.

 

I used a razor blade, but that takes patience and you have to be VERY VERY careful. And nothing beats 3m adhesive and wax remover to take off the remaining glue.

 

they have a 4000 rpm spinnin pin stripe removing wheel takes all pinstripe off easy cant even tell it was there

 

Use a blow dryer, or a heat gun to get the glue lose. Then peel it off with a razor blade and follow it up with some Goo-Gone.

 

a Razer blade thats nuts....just use alittle bit of nail polish remover and it takes the sticky right off

 

Don't use a razor blade!!
I removed mine with goo-gone and a plastic scraper, came right off.

 

when you peel it off pull away from the direction you are peeling, for example if you are peeling towards the back keep your hand in front of where you are peeling and pull forward otherwise you will leave behind all sorts of stickiness. if you pull against it it will come off clean and you will have nothing to clean up..

 

nonono get a plastic putty knife.... and a hair dryer and do sections at a time... and then when its all off you will have the glue residue on it left get some goof off or goo gone and just spash and wipe easy as pie

 

When you are done with that, go get a painted on stripe.

 

use the air powered remover i said ^ there takes off in like 5 seconds... no sticky mess or anything

 

Just use a little goo-gone but be careful that it doesn't eat your paint.

I use goo-gone alot and never knew that it could eat your paint, interesting.

 

you also have to buy that tool when your hands and a heat gun will do the same job just easy well...

heat gun on pinstripe and peel away, use either wd40 or goo gone to clean up the residue...

 

tool is made for it, wont mess up paint and is like 30$ isnt 30$ cheaper then repainting after your paint gets eaten through?

 

use a heat gun to pull off the stripe, then use a clay bar to remove the glue. Use the claybar on your whole pickup. It will take off tree sap or dirt. Some claybar come with a detail spray, or just use soapy water. You can buy a claybar set anywhere.

 

about the clay baring ive been wanting to clay bar my truck for a while now but kinda skeptical about using it because i dont know how and what difference will it make because my truck is still stock paint from a 96

 

the clay bar, will clean off any dirt, wax residue that is trapped. I had a 2002 black mustang, and its was amazing on what it did. I would try it, and if you dont like it all you our out is 20 bucks and your time.

 

I've pulled decals off with just my finger nail and a blow dryer. Don't see why pin stripes would be much different.

Just takes patience and you'll have to clean up any leftover glue.

 

You could always Sand Blast it off....then repaint the truck..........................J/K

 

if youre not smart and let the glue remover sit for a few days... id rather spend the 30$ elsewhere instead of something that i will use once and never again

 

my finger nail and some rubbing alcohol did the trick for mine

 

I work at an autobody shop.. When i removed mine i used the air gun and spinning pin stripe removal tool. so fast and easy its the way to go. finish up with a cut and buff or wax and your good to go

 

i used a heatgun and some goo gone. Job went quick and easy. Then just cleaned it real good and claybared and now you cant tell there was the big thick pinstripe on the truck for almost 13 yrs.
