dealer sticker removal

dealer sticker removal

on the truck that i just bought there is a sticker from the dealer on the tail gate. i do not want it there but also do not want to wreck the paint. are there any tips on how to take it off. i heard peel it off then spray stoner tar and bug remover and it should be fine but idn what do u guys think?

is it a plastic emblem style? or those vinyl stickers? either way hairdryer to ease it up then use your fingernail to lift it off... and you can use that remover stuff...or WD40

it is a vinyl and i think i might take a heat gun on a low temp to it for a min to soften up the glue some

how long has it been there?

i was lucky drove mine home and removed all the decals that day so they did not have a good chance to bond

but heat would be your best bet

well i had one on my 93 when i bought it, it was from the dealer that the guy bought it new.. took heaed gun took it off and took some wd-40 removed the glue.. washed the area then scratch-x'ed it and she was good as new...

its about 7 years old its a 98 i think it should come off just fine i just didnt want to take a chance of taking it off and there being an outline or something. well i got a lil project for me tmrw thanks guys for the help ill let u kno how it went

if it leaves glue behind you can use lacquer thinner or mineral spirits to take it off.

I used my finger nail. Now when I removed my stock 'EDGE' decals I had to use a dryer and all of my finger nails.

honestly you cant screw this up... i had a heat gun on my fenders for like 10 minutes form about 3 inchs taking my emblems off and the truck was fine.... just heat it up for a min and peel, no fenese needed

By a can of stuff called sticker shock form autozone and all you have to do is spary it on and the sticker will come right off

You're lucky you just have a sticker. My truck had a emblem DRILLED into the tailgate. I removed it, and I had two big holes in my gate.

I went in and told them I wanted a new tailgate. They settled for sending it to the body shop and filliong and painting over the holes.

Damn Phil Long Ford...

you want to use a heat gun if you have an opportunity too and a plastic rasor blade.then lacquer thiner to take the rest of the goo off.
