I kept forgetting to post this (for 5+ years) LOL

I got oil paint on my steering wheel back in the summer of 2005. I used that orange hand cleaner to get it off. While it worked well, it also made the leather shrink and stretch...

 

What was the name of the cleaner?

Got any pictures of what it did to the wheel?

after 17 years, mine did it on its own.
but good to see you got it swapped out.

 

That looks like normal aging.

But yes, a new one looks a lot better.

No offence to the OP, but DUH!!!! its made for hands, not leather steering wheels

 

after looking at the properties of the pics, of the big pictures I first posted, they were taken in November 04... truck was 3 months old and looked like that.

On the flip side, the 'new' steering wheel
came off a truck with 6,000 miles on it, and I myself put 5K on it and it still looks way better than the 'post hand cleaner' effect

 

The new wheel is nice regardless

 

cause i put my stock seats out for the trash, and upgraded to heated/power leather seats
