actually its the other way around. ive been using steel wool on chrome for years. chrome is very hard and it works very well
Navel jell or Flitz, they both have a acid added to them so use either with care. Glasses and maybe those latex gloves. Some of those spray on wheel cleaners (brake dust cleaners) are good to but spray it on the cloth to put it on the rim. Good Luck....
If you wanna take rust off of chrome use a peace of Aluminum foil it will take it off with out scaring the chrome but only works good on surface rust if the rust is really bad i dout it will work well..use that do not wad it up just rub to take the rust spots out then polish with just regular chrome cleaner from any part store. i do this to my center caps every year after winter. hope this tip helps.
Wow my rims look just like your first pic. How long did it take you to get them lookin like your second pic? and what else did you use? was this by hand? thanks
Fine steel wool is perfect for getting surface rust patches and crap off chrome. I used fine steel wool when I had my 85 Olds Cutlass. Damn thing had chrome everywhere!!!
