seed60 08-26-2008 07:00 AM

Bling Bling!!

That's a great idea.

htjunkie 08-26-2008 01:48 PM

If I use this on my tool box, do you think it'll hurt the paint when i rinse it off?

freddie 08-26-2008 01:54 PM

Remove the toolbox then do it???!

htjunkie 08-26-2008 01:56 PM

Yea, but I was hoping I wouldnt have to do that. It's loaded pretty good, and noone to help lift it.

Are you sure there wasn't a clear coating on there before that was oxidizing? I know some tool boxes have a coating on them.

morris 08-26-2008 11:40 PM

i would think you have to add the clear coat if you haven't yet. just to keep it protected. as for rims/wheels, i think this would definately kill the clear coat on them.
mike especially with yours, your shoud prep the surface if you wanna keep the black on there.

good luck with this though. it seems to work.

TrePaul86 08-27-2008 12:45 AM

There was definitely something on the box... Some sort of coating... I'd rather polish them once a month than clear them... Looks better that way anyways..

04blackedge 08-27-2008 07:22 AM

Yeah I wouldn't use this on something with clear coat on it. My rims are just pure uncoated aluminum so they should be fine.

mlw20lu 08-27-2008 07:36 AM

sick job. dunno if its work the effort im gettin new rims soon anyway lol

dixie_boysles 05-27-2009 08:15 AM

i stumbled across something similar to this, i went looking around the house for a cleaner to clean my old diamondplate toolbox....found oven cleaner...it almost does the same effect...prolly not as good as what you used....just wanted to see what otheres used to help me polish and clean my new toolbox...i got it last year new at lowes...its starting to fade already...damn aluminum....

Toreador4x4 05-27-2009 09:44 AM

make sure you clear them again after you polish them, they had clear on them, thats what you removed

TrePaul86 05-27-2009 09:49 AM

I didn't re clear mine, and they're still shiny!

FRXLT 05-27-2009 09:51 AM

If I only saw this yesterday before I painted my toolbox black! :006:

mgn465 06-18-2009 02:16 AM

awesome man...U r full of creativity :P

ShadowRanger08 10-01-2009 01:24 AM

so if i spray this on my tool box, it'll take the clear right off?
i dont want to spend forever trying to scrape it all off with steel wool, i was debating getting it line-x-ed. but if this stuff will take the clear right off, i'll probably just paint it black and clear that, much much cheaper

joshtank 10-07-2009 12:35 AM

might try it on my bumper

kenny_216 10-07-2009 01:02 AM

heh.....he used his mothers ball......hehehe

Toolboxes don't have clearcoat on them! Its just standard sheet diamondplate! Why do you think over time ALL (non black) toolboxes oxidize over time? If they were clear coated the clear would peel over time......its veryyyy noticeable if its cleared or not.

"Polished" wheels are pure >polished< aluminum......clear coated wheels are machined, then cleared with powdercoat. As with all factory wheels, you can tell when corrosion eats "underneath" the clear coat and it starts flaking off. So stripping off the clear when its unecessary is a bad idea. Unless you want to have to continue to polish them all the time...

TXRanger09 10-19-2009 09:00 PM

im doing this tomorrow i polished my tookbox i got on craiglist for 2 hours the other day with some mothers and 2 million rags and it still is only shiny in certain spots
