I removed my pinstriping how do I get the glue off?

Is there an efficient way to remove the glyue left over from taking off my pin striping? What can I say, I'm lazy.

goo gone worked great for me

WD40... sounds odd.. but its real. spray it on take a rag let it sit for oh about 4 sec then wipe off... sometimes you have to rub a little but not to bad... then wash the truck to get rid of the lube... simple...

Cody_288 07-03-2007 11:25 AM

I tried WD40 yesterday... Until then I thought that I could do anything with that stuff, but it didn't work for me. I tried letting it sit for a few seconds, a minute, dousing the rag and the glue... nothing.

use gasoline, acetone would work too, dont rub hard and wash it off then rewax when you are done.

Acetone will get off anything... including your clear coat, so be careful if you go that route. I'd suggest rubbing alcohol first, it is a bit less destructive. But as Zach said, "make sure to wash it off and then rewax when you are done."

A little bit of acetone on the rag and a quick wipe should be ok, but i would not mess around with it.

hair drier. it will melt the glue. if you use a heat gun be careful that you dont keep it in one spot to long or else it will melt your paint. you should be fine with a air drier but still dont leave it in one spot for to long.

I'am in the process of removing my pinstriping from my 1995 Ranger. The WD-40 and simple green did absolutely nothing, and I would "NOT" recommend acetone or gas. I used "3M Adhesive and Wax remover" which took most of it off with some scrubbing. Then I used some rubbing compound to "help" blend the "newer looking" and old paint, then some wax. Thats how I'am doing it....

Bigwill41 07-16-2007 09:47 PM

I bet it looks better without the pinstriping.

Mineral oil worked when I took off mine, a little scrubbing and it was good to go. Give it a shot

PW01 07-17-2007 12:27 AM

lighter fluid

Bug and tar remover

Kosmo04 07-17-2007 01:12 PM

Kevin hit it on the dot. 3M makes a general purpose adhesive remover. The guys here at my shop use it ALL the time. Also, there is something called DX330, which also works very well, and both are clearcoat safe. You can get both at either Carquest or Napa.

Msl747 07-17-2007 10:42 PM

whitetrashranger 07-18-2007 08:51 AM

used goo gone on mine worked really good

bucky919 07-18-2007 09:21 AM

i used some 3m adhesive remover and wd40 to remove mine

93longbed 07-18-2007 11:16 AM

The best way Ive seen to take off pinstriping is to take a old credit card, drivers license(not your own) or library card and use it to start peeling the striping away. Ive also seen a putty knife with duct tape on the end. Just remember to take your time and try not to scratch the paint.

LowMaz 07-18-2007 01:32 PM

easiest way to take off pinstriping is to put your truck in the hot sun. let it sit for a while in like direct sunlight. then go over with ur fingernail and pull up on the end and then just rip up the whole striping

Conner45 07-18-2007 02:51 PM

Gotta go with the Goo B Gone

Mark98xlt 07-18-2007 09:35 PM

Keroscene works real good and wont hurt your paint at all, also liek other said goo gone lol
