If there is a lot of mud and dirt on it, I would.

I have heard of people using pressure washers, but I prefer a garden hose. The engine and underhood electrical system are pretty much waterproof, but some seals and gaskets just are not meant to stand up to high pressure water from a pressure washer. You especially need to be careful if you have any leaks at all. If oil can get out, high pressure water can definately get in.

What I usually do is hose off loose dirt with a garden hose, spray everything with Orange Blast (cleaner/degreaser comparable to Simple Green Automotive), let it sit for a few minutes, then hose off the Orange Blast. It works well for me.

yep simple green + carwash and as a bonus simple green is biodegradeable..
so its not going to kill your lawn if you do it in the driveway.

I just did this two days ago...sprayed it down with a garden hose. Then sprayed the simple green on, let it sit for a while, and hosed it off. Worked like a charm
