paint overspray....

Thanks to an idiotic move by the painters at my work , the parking lot of my work ended up with a nice dusting of grey primer and so did my truck along with several other peoples nice vehicles. So, after ripping some peoples asses and resisting the urge to cause great bodily harm, I'm left with a mess to clean up. Fortunately, I just put on a fresh coat of wax last month so hopefully that will help. I guess tomorrow, I am going to go pick up a new clay bar and see what I can do. I plan to wash it with dish soap first to strip off the wax coat, clay bar the truck (including the windows, plastic, and rubber trim) and keep going until I get it off. I am kind of concerned with my mirror plastic and my tonneau cover but I'll see what I can do with them. Then of course comes the new coat of wax once I get it smooth again. Does anyone have any suggestions about anything else I can use to get the overspray off without damaging the finish? I guess the clay bar is my only option really that I am comforatble using. It just really pisses me off how people can be so inconsiderate and careless of someones pride and joy and on top of it all it's supposed to rain tomorrow while I'll be trying to do all this in the garage. That'll make the wax take forever to dry.

use a good complaint and have them pay for the removal of the overspray. once a customer came into where i work. his neighbor painted his house then overspray got all over his 70 Lincoln MarkIII. he came in looking for products to remove the mess, then just asked me if i would do it. i said sure and we agreed on $100 to polish out the car and remove it. well, i got there, he got the neighbors to write a check. i got paid but as a gratuity he actually got them to pay $200 for my services. sweet.

either way........ yeah clay bar, polish, then wax. should work well. other than that its compounds but its alot of work that really wont help out the plastic parts.

Yeah it definitely sounds like something they need to take care of.

I went up there this morning and complained to the company president as I work second shift and don't see them during the day time. He applogized and agreed to cover the costs of the materials it takes for me to get it off. I won't let any of those morons touch my truck so I will do it myself today and may go ahead and stock up on cleaning supplies on their dime not to mention taking today off from work.

Ok...after most of a day, washing 3 times, 2 claybars, alot of work, and a new coat of Meguires NXT I got 99% of it off. I also picked up about $100 worth of cleaning supplies that will last all of next year courtesey of work. It's the least those *&%%$s could have done.

Bug and Tar Remover is like a Claybar in a spray can. I alaways get black overspray on my truck after i paint the frame, etc. I use bug and tar remover followed by wash, then claybar. Leaves no signs of overspray..

Yeah, I know...lol! A clay bar works wonders though if you can muster up the energy to use it.
