Peanut butter for black plastic trim...
Don't. Just don't......
Use a quality plastic dye like Showroom New. Heap and effective and does not run when it rains because its a dye!
I just used it on a few items on the yoga and it works amazing
Care Care Products, Car Dye, Car Treatment, Car Restoration

I dont think anyone will argue that it works but that it wont last at all. There are better things to use than peanut butter.
All the peanut butter is doing is supplying an oil to the plastic which fills in the chalked exterior and gives it a shine. There are plenty of other, cheaper, products that'll achieve the same results. But, do whatever works for you. Also, be sure to post pics of the squirrels gnawing on your plastics!
Bet it doesnt last
I can rub my black rubber trip with a paper towel without peanut butter and it will make black marks on it. But yes thats all the peanut butter does is put its oils on it. Its no different than using a wipe on silicone based protectant, it will not last. Once the oils are washed away fron a few washes and rains.
Dyes like the one i listed however to not wash away as it is a dye. Sure over a few years it will probably fade again due to a black plastic being in constant sun.

This thread....lulz. virtually anything that has oil in it will do the same thing to the black trim but it wont last long at all.

I'm sorry, DJ.... But this peanut butter thing is the automotive equivalent of women who put mayonnaise in their hair. Sure, it does something, but there are products available already designed specifically for the task at hand so you don't have to put food on something other than bread.
Also, if you post something on a forum and expect only positive feedback then you better go back some years, put on a diaper, and be spoon fed because thats not how the internet works....
