Review of Autoglym High Definition Wax

I have used Autoglym High Definition Wax several times and am impressed so I decided to share my thoughts since it is available at your local Wal-Mart for $35.

Overall it is a nice wax although I found it difficult to apply in a thin layer with the supplied applicators (damp red sponges). So I'd recommend using a regular applicator pad. When I used a regular red applicator pad I found that the application and removal was very easy. The wax is very similar in "look" to P21S 100% and gives a high, sharp, deep shine. I cannot yet comment on durability.

Besides the wax, the package includes 2 red sponge applicators and a red microfiber towel.

It's not every day a person can buy a premium product from England at Wal-Mart so in my opinion it's a must buy.

sweet, I'll have to look into it

04blackedge 04-05-2010 08:42 AM

Cool deal. I'll have to add it to the list to try once I run out.

Daniel3507 04-06-2010 09:16 PM

I am yet to find this in my wal mart. Ive been wanting to try it since I've heard its available in the states. It will be interesting to see how it compares to my Pinnacle Souveran. Cheaper by about 60 bucks so im hoping that it is good stuff

KLC 04-06-2010 09:53 PM

If anyone would like to try it out I could buy it and send it to you. I am sure it would be around $41 shipped. Let me know and I'll check on it.

I've yet to see this locally, maybe our Supercenter will get it soon. I haven't been in there in a few months.

KLC do you hand apply this or with the G110V2?

I usually always hand apply and buff waxes. So I did the same with this as well.

GrafixGuy 04-06-2010 10:47 PM

same here. Hand buffing is Free :-D

Just out of curiosity why? Finally brought my DA out the other day, I have no clue how to use that thing lol

Daniel3507 04-07-2010 09:34 AM

Ive always felt its easier to get a thing even coat by hand. The only time I really use my DA is when i do a full polish.

I have applied wax by hand and by machine with an orbital and dual-action polisher with great success. When waxing by hand, I am able to get into tight areas and around trim that a machine cannot easily get into. When waxing with a machine polisher, larger areas are waxed in a shorter amount of time, and the pressure is spread out more evenly over the entire face of the buffing pad assuming you're using good technique and holding the pad flat to the surface. There are pros and cons to using either method so it mostly comes down to personal preference.

Now I prefer to apply wax by hand because I find it is faster than using a machine since I can get to all the areas without changing pad sizes, and don't have to get out or put away the machine. I also find I am able to use less product.

I always remove the wax residues by hand with several thick, soft and plush high-pile microfiber towels.

Ah yeah, I was just curious why you preferred it more. Thanks for the info

I wish the paint on my truck was nice enough to be able to care about a lot like you care about yours, someone washed my truck with dirty sponges or something a lot because it has micro marring all over. I need to buy a DA so I can correct it

my entire truck is like that, just not as extreme as that

04blackedge 04-07-2010 12:48 PM

Thats how the Mustang was when I started last night. Thats what happens when you take a car through automatic washes for 9 years without a proper detail lol

I got it down to this but theres a lot of damage even deeper that I didn't have aggressive enough products to go after. I'm happy with it now.

Found some of it at Pep Boys so it might be worth checking out if you cant find it at your walmart.

The red really pops in that 2nd pic!

The Pontiac Perisienne i had last year in between my Rangers When I got it it looked like the paint was flat whitish gray yellow, Well I washed and Scrubbed for a couple hours and it turned out flat White. Then I used Meguiars and buffed the heck out of it with the cloth attachment on the grinder, then used a polishing thing on the buffer... And man o man That thing looked good when i was done. At first i didnt think it could be saved but it just goes to show with enough time and patience you can revive most abused paint...

Speaking of I need to detail the hell out of my truck Inside and out as soon as this pollen goes away

FULLSCALE 04-07-2010 07:46 PM

I've been thinking of trying this stuff. They sell it here at Canadian Tire. Has anybody tried it on black yet? I usually use the Meguiars NXT 2.0 stuff... I wonder how it compares?

cmc474 04-17-2010 10:10 AM

I saw it there as well, I didn't even think about picking it up though because of the price. I wonder what it will look like on white.

I bought 3 of them for that price at my Wal-Mart too. They cleared them out everywhere. If I had known you wanted one I would have bought one for you.

You'll love it! Just be sure to apply it very thin and keep the applicator moist. Let it come to a haze before you buff it off.

04blackedge 04-16-2011 03:06 PM

Should go check the local WM then. Wonder why they are clearanceing it out.

I was told that the product wasn't selling so they decided to get rid of it to make room for merchandise that will. Not many people will pay $35 for car wax, especially from Wal-Mart.

How do you like it compared to NXT 2.0? I really like NXT 2.0 myself, I started using it after I corrected my paint with my DA and love it.
