so my undercarriage has Been covered with mud clods the size of soft ***** and stuff from the last 4 or 5 mud trips. so i figured that if going through mud fast gets it all on there than water should get it off. so there is this like 4 inch deep water puddle on a road around here and its on asphalt. so i hit it at like 30 and water sprayed everywhere. i get out and my undercarriage is spotless. my dad says that doing that is so high pressure. he said he did it once with a guy standing next to one and the guy fell over from the power.

 

Well there is no real question. But as long as you dont go so fast you hydroplane and hit something then it is fine. It is high pressure but not that hard it will break anything.

 

I usually go to a self car wash place and power wash my undercarriage after I go mudding. Never had a problem.

 

i drove through a parking lot full of water going fast and my belt wouldn't stop squeaking so i ended up replacing the belt and the idler pully cuz it wouldn't go away

 

I don't see any problem doing that. I've taken a garden hoses to the engine bay before, not on my truck but to other vehicles. Never had any problems. Belt slippage would probably be the only thing that you should have to deal with.

 

Why don't you just wash up under there, and stop being lazy?

Just use a nozzle from WalMart and get up in there.

 

Or ask a neighbor to use a powerwasher, with the 'medium' nozzle setting on?

 

i have a 1500 pressure washer, a 2000 washer and a 3000 adjustable washer but i dont want to lay under the truck and try to get all the little places......inside the frame rails, above the skids, bottom of cab. ect

 

Lazy? Just put on some old clothes and do it.

P.S.- Goggles or a face mask is a must when doing something like that.

 

another thing to think about is if you do that while yout truck is hot,

hot truck+cold water= something cracking

 

Just power wash the underneath of it

 

But driving through a puddle @ 30mph gets in there? LOL

I guess that since you're asking, you're unsure. Just don't hydroplane man.....seen to many pics of here or wrecks.

 

when u drive through it it sprays water everywhere and cleans it.

 

so does when you spray it with a hose.

 

i just did it after i got back from the mounds,

i hook my garden hose up to the laundry tub, which is right off of the garage, so i have all hot water, and i lay on the ground and spray it put underneath, it isnt hard and it doesnt require energy or thinking, just put on old clothes and do it

 

I'd use the power washer but really the pressure of the puddle is gonna probably be less that the pressure from the washer. If you don't want to get on the ground then jack/flex one side of the truck so you just need to bend... or we sell attachments that car detailers love that let them wash the underside without getting on the ground... They can be expensive but if you're that lazy then PM me and I'll give you some options/pricing.

ive got a neat carwash nearby.

its one of the touchless ones, and the water comes out at a really high pressure.

but the coolest thing, is it has pressure nozzles on the ground, and as you drive into the thing, it sprays the bottom of the truck.

cleans it everytime.

 

why lay on the ground when u could just drive through a puddle...i was just wondering if it was to high pressure or not. doesnt sound like it and if it gets the job done why do it the hard way.

 

what i do is just set up a sprinkler underneath

 

you may think the puddle is getting all the mud, next time you are washing your truck, squirt the garden hose between your bedside and flare from the underside, or between the inner fender and the bedside from the inside and watch what comes out.

the #1 cause of bed rust is people not washing between the inner and outer fender, my F-150, F-250, and S-10 did, im not letting it happen to my Ranger

 

o well i still wash the whole truck in inside the fenders and stuff that is just for the "UNDERCARRIAGE"

 

stop being lazy, and pressure wash it, i will tell you what will eventually happen if you keep driving thru big water puddles at high speed, you WILL suck water into your air box, and it WILL get sucked into your intake, and F your motor up, now i ask you, is it worth it?

I used to play in the water until I started getting squeaks in the front and rear suspension and frame that have taken me forever to get rid of, and helped accelerate my balljoint failure process.

With a pressure washer you can avoid the sensitive areas of the truck while still knocking that mudd off of the frame and bottom of the cab.

It doesn't even take a pressure washer. A hose and your thumb and about 25min and you're good.
