I buy the big jugs of simple green, purple power, whatever is on sale when I need it. I have a small garden sprayer I pour it in and dilute it a little, not really necessary but it does make it last longer. Works great too on tires, wheel wells, and frame/suspension areas. Just be careful spraying it around your paint if you have waxed your truck because it will strip off the wax coat.

Just make sure there are no petroleum distillates in the cleaner. Thats a good indication that it might melt the hoses and other things.

[QUOTE]i have some random citrus cleaner/degreaser lying around...would that work? isn't that what simple green is [QUOTE] Yes, but speaking from experience, I would take Simple Green. For one, the citrus stuff I used was very slick, and I was dealing with the rims on my truck, and I was pretty satisfied with how well it cleaned except I felt that it attracted dirt. The second issue is that I didn't need the Citrus smell when cleaning the outside of the vehicle.

I cleaned my engine this past weekend and it came out great. water got in my air box however, so be aware of that. Next time I'll put a bag over it to avoid getting water in there.
