Air Fresheners

Air Fresheners
Does anyone know what the dealers use to keep the cars smelling like that "new car smell" even if they had been used before? I saw a little pack of "new car smell" one time under one of my old cars seats but I can't remember what it was called and I threw it away a long time ago. Thanks everyone!

I am not certain, but I think it is more a mixture of cemicals that they use to clean the carpet and seats then it is just a single air freshner. i know that you can go up to Wal-Mart (or any auto retailer) and get car scents labled "New Car" but they are not the same. Only thing I can think is that is it something they use to clean the inside with, and the smell just sticks around. Maybe it is a combo of the all the stuff, and a "new Car" air freshner.... Don't know though.. Just my answer

I don't have a clue what the scents are but the things in the car that probably give them the new scent are plastics, carpeting (the fibers are just plastics), wiring, paint & adhesives...all of these things are likely some form of vinyl/plastic/pvc which as they outgas will give off the odors we all love....
So, maybe hitting the remnant section at a local carpeting store for a few pieces of new carpet might help add some of the new car smell back? shove them under the seats or behind them...???
