Wax?
I had the AUTO ARMOR TOTAL CAR PROTECTION done when I bought the truck. It was 500 bux with a 5 year guarantee. It has been 27 months going and the truck looks as it did when the stuff was applied- never waxed once.
The Dealer also gave me a whole Auto Armor Package for free to re-apply if and when I want too.
So, I only wash the darn thing with Palmolive liquid soap and water without having to wax it. I'm happy!

I've learned that palmolive will strip any wax you have on the car. My parents used to use that to wash their cars, and not one had a decent paint job after 4-5 years of texas sun.
I suppose the Auto Armor is a different substance?

Allow me to explain:
When you are going to do or re-do the "Zaino Process" they have you wash the car with Dawn dish detergent, because it does a great job stripping the car of everything, and helping prime it for the Zaino.
Hence, if you wax your car, then wash it the next week with Palmolive soap; you just took all your wax off!
When I was a newb to car care, I use to wash my old explorer with normal soap all the time...not good!
Carleton
fedex truck brought me some goodies today...
Isn't that amazing. I've been using Palmolive soap for the last 10 years on every vehicle and not once has it stripped the wax or faded the paint. I dunno, just odd, but my experience has been completely opposite...

You get the Zaino religion on ALL the dang Forums. Yugo forums...Vette forums etc. You get the SAME results if you wash, detar and clay as you do with Zaino with El Cheapo Wal-Mart Meguiar's. Jay Leno don't sit at Meguiar's if the shizzle ain't no good....
Zaino, Fuller Brush, Rainbow Vacuum....Kirby...Snake Oil...
What about Nu Finish? The TV commercial said only once a year was all you needed to do, and it would restore old paint finishes.. lol
I think you're right. Zaino might produce good results, but so will just about ANY wax that is put on correctly. Most of it is in the application, not the product.
Miagi-son, Wax on Wax off, repeat!

Saying you get the "SAME" results from two different products (when one is a wax and another is a polish) is a bit off in my opinion...
Most waxes will give you a shine that may compare to Zaino, but the first time it rains its gone. The Zaino difference is that it stays looking just as great for 6 months. The only thing I've found that will dull the shine is the super-acidic ground water if my truck gets sprinklered on.
Heres my truck 6 weeks after applying 2 coats of Zaino:

Well, still following the Ranger crowd.

Hmm. Maybe my meguair's has zaino in it, because rain doesn't affect my shine. Maybe after about 3-4 nights of rain/dew, and a week of dush and i've got lots of water spots, but nothing a quick car wash won't revitalize.
Is our webmaster well?
All I know is that when I was in Rochester I used the 3-step Meguiars process and it would take me from sunrise to sunset to do it (with clay) and it never shone as bright as Zaino, and it never stayed shiny as long.
