30 MPH accident and my ranger it totaled....A few parts for sale.
Driving home the other night I was in an accident, it seems someone felt that they needed a manhole cover more than the manhole and to make a long story short, I caught it with my right front going 30 mph. It threw my truck sideways. It was raining and wet leaves were all over the road. I tried to save it, but there wasn't much traction to work with. Ended up crashing into a corner of a wood building and a 4" fence pole. Both airbags went off(never touched me, but stuck like shi*) I called the police and they said with no injury that it was not a priority call and to try to get it out of the way. I hit the fuel reset button and luckily it started. Drove it home (4 miles) half way home the factory temp gauge is pegged at the top and my autometer guage reads over 260. Power steering resivore is pushed against the p/s pump pulley and leaking all over, but mad it home. I contacted the insurance company today and they told me that it won't be getting fixed because the damage is more than the truck is worth. 2003 ranger with 47,108 miles on it, 30 mph crash...UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I have some good pictures, but cannot seem to figure out how to post them. Every time I try hosting them, the site says files are too large. I would be very greatfull if someone could help me out with the pics. If anyone could post them for me if I email them to you, please let me know. I am not too good with a computer and just cannot figure out how to do it.

open them in paint or whatever and save them as a jpeg. I bet you're using bitmaps.
that sucks about your truck man. I had a friend who flipped her cavalier and there was no damage to the rest of the car but the roof and the insurance company said that because the a-pillar was bent about a 1/4 inch that it was totalled. something so small can total a car. It's crazy.

Yeah man that really sucks ....i would definitley contact the city and make sure you have pics of the area....they most likely fixed the manhole cover already but there has to be reports made either by the water/sewer dept or someone calling ....you never know maybe you will get lucky enough to get enough to either repair your truck or enough to negotiate with your insurance company to force them to fix it...but at the dealership i work at i've seen 05-and-o6 vechicles total with only a minor front end hit but the airbags went....

I live in Detroit and have tried contacting the city about it, but the basically told me that manhole covers and several other item are stolen every night to be turned in for the scrap metal value. Some guy got killed a few weeks ago trying to steal the copper wire from inside a light pole...it was still hot.

My insurance company would hire a lawyer to see the city over crap like that. A Manhole cover is City Property, therefor is the City's responsibility to maintain. If the city dug a hole in the road and didn't put cones up, don't you think "cones get stolen every night" would be a crappy defense!????
This is a load of crap. I'd be pissed and ready to kick some *** in court.
