4.56 gears, whats your MPG?

Hey guys, I'm going to install a NIB trac loc that I got for super cheap and was thinking about regearing while I have it apart. But I am curious if it is worth my time, my truck is an 07 with a 2.3L auto, looking for a little better MPG. I have BFG AT's on there which were the opposite of good for my mileage, though they are only the 215/75/15's so atleast they aren't too much bigger than my stock tires. I have a K&N filter in and was thinking about getting a different muffler to help the engine breathe but, like I said, going to do a trac loc and wanted to know if the gear change will boost my MPGs.

You shouldn't over gear. Unless you have AT LEAST 31s I wouldn't recommend 4.56s. If you don't have 4.10s stock that would be a nice upgrade though.

Another thing to keep in mind:
The lower the gears (4.10s, 4.56s) the better city miles you will get
The higher the gears (3.55s, 3.73s) the better highway miles you will get

And you should consider is it worth the cost

He has an auto im almost 100% sure he has 4.10 gears in now. But unless your planing on some 31-33's anytime soon i would leave the gears alone. How much hwy time do you drive? If its mostly city a regear may not be a bad idea but you will lose your hwy mpg because the engine will be spinning faster.

Thanks for the input guys, I don't plan on changing my tires anytime soon so I'll either leave it be or go to 3.73s, I do a mix of driving but I'd like to get some extra mileage out of the highway miles, the 4.10s hardly feel efficient at 65, I have too much pedal in it. It wants to turn about 2100 rpms or less where its turning 2500 at 65. I tend to do road trips to pick up old mopeds and motorcycles frequently so better highway mileage would be a perk.
