Duratec E-fan
Duratec E-fan
Question for anyone that might know
the 01+ (assuming all duratecs, but at least on the 01s) have a normal clutch fan (engine driven) and a small E-fan. Now I have no idea when the Efan kicks on, but ive heard it once in awhile...
Heres the question, can the clutch fan and small efan be replaced by a larger efan and run off the stock fan controller? That is assuming that the stock efan is connected to the temp sensor. However if its connected to the a/c system or something similar then it wont work
Maybe someone has a wire diagram for the stock efan? then i could figure out what controls it. Then again if its a temp that sets it off, maybe its too high, and if so, could it be changed to a lower temp, as not to over heat the engine
Or I could go like everyone else and just run a new controller for the new efan, but it would save money if i can tap into the stock setting...
So anyone with any idea, post on up...
Oh, and if you dont believe me on the dual fans, one of these days ill get a pic, i know i had to point it out to accouple buddies that didnt believe me when i told them

I could almost bet that the Efan that is on your truck right now is for the A/C, I am sure that you could tap into it for a larger fan but it may not work like you want it too. For instance it would come on when the A/C is turned on but not when the engine temperature gets too high.
well, thats the thing, i dont remember when i heard it on, it was jsut sitting in park, and it wasnt on the complete time either, it kicked on and off, while i was out of the truck, so it wasnt like someone was playing with the air controls
