Newb to Rangers, and the 2.3L
Looking into buying one in the next few days, but would like to know if the 2.3L can hold up with a chip? Not looking for anything performance-wise, just something to give the 4cyl a little kick. I'm looking at trucks around 90k miles.

 

It should be perfectly fine with a chip. It doesnt boost it enough that it would need any high end parts.

 

i think it would be fine too. also if you ever really got into rangers, 2.3l are the way to go. they might only have 143hp but you can make that old dog run. a buddy of mine had a 2.3l single cab with a little lift on it but he regard it, tuned the engine, put a cold air intake, and an exhaust and that thing was pretty good while still getting decent milage

 

i dont know alot about the new 2.3 but i know the old ones are really good
