01 5r44e to 05 5r55e???

I found a project ranger cheap and it needs a new trans. It has a 3.0 v6, and I think it has the 5r44e. I have a 5r55e from a 4.0 SOHC ranger just sitting in my back yard. will it bolt up and run fine??

3.0 and 4.0 have different bolt patterns. Also in 04 they changed to OBD-II CAN, im not sure how that effects the transmission.

the wiring harness for the transmissions is different...

you CAN swap the 3.0 bell housing for the 4.0 bell housing....there is about 10 bolts around the inside of the bell housing that lets you remove it...
