I have a '92 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 Auto trans and I have a question. I had some work done on the trans, pretty much a full rebuild, and when I got it back, there was an issue.

When I start the truck for the first time after sitting for several hours, it will not shift from 1st gear until it reaches 4000 rpm. At exactly 4000rpm, it will shift from 1st to 2nd and 3rd gear rapidly. The trans will then shift normally.

Do you know what could cause this?
