My $3k B4000 gave me six solid months of driving before one or more of the clutch packs welded themselves together. So I need a new trans and am debating replacing with a remanufactured 4r55e or swapping to a remanufactured M5R1. I can’t find a matching 95-96 4r55e in any states nearby and all of the wrecked Rangers/Explorers have 200k+ miles or have already had the trans taken. Any other suggestions than reman? I’ve received quotes from $2300 to $4500 for a rebuild.
