Been driving this ranger for the last 5 months and been told by several shops that the tranny is TOAST.. It shifts hard, mis-shifts, slips and just really needs to be replaced. Its obvious to me that the PO rode this one hard( lucky me).
. I was quoted about $1500 for a swap using a good unit picked from a salvage yard.. Not sure if i want to go that route since I dont know what ill be getting. Could anyone recommend a place that sells good re-manufactured units or new heavy duty units in the New England area. Thanks

just drop the tranny and do it yourself. if you cant figure it out you will have the tranny out and all the new gears ready to go to transmission shop. will save you hundreds.

unplug neg. battery
unplug header O2 sensors
take out your pipes 6-7 bolts
take off starter 3 bolts
drain fluid at some point
take out drive shaft 4 bolts
take out cross memeber about 6 bolts
raise up transmission jack
unlplug a few wires from transmission.
undo the 6 bolts in the housing

Id say talk to zabeard. He had a whole list on making a better more firm trans. dont know if he still has it tho

New transmission and engine and ditched the supercharger.. all stock for the exception of jbl headers. Man this truck is slow
