2010 Ford ranger sport trans issue
2010 Ford ranger sport trans issue
hello everyone. My names nick and I'm driving a 2010 Ford ranger sport 2wd with the 5speed manual transmission and I am having a very odd squealing noise from my trans in 1st and 2nd gear when it's under a moderate to heave acceleration and recently a clunk started when you first engage 1st - 4th gear or when you get off the gas and then back on the gas in 1st - 4th gear. I have never heard a vehicle make these noises and it's got me concerned. I have had the trans out 2 times for the slave cylinders and the first time put a new clutch in it. Does anyone have any ideas what these sounds could be. I'm scared my trans is on its last legs and will die anytime. Here is a link to a video I took of the noise. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and last question are these the m5od trans and what would the exact model be so I could make sure I get the correct one if I have to buy a new one.

For the clunking noise have you checked your transmission mount to make sure it's in good shape and tightened down properly? Have you also checked the driveshaft ujoints?
For that whining noise, have you checked the fluid level in the trans? Maybe replace the fluid? But I'll admit that's a tough noise to diagnose, almost sounds bearing related.
