would i get a better boost without raising the rpms too much if i were to remove my rearend with 3.08 and replace a rearend with 3.45..right now my 85 2.8 runs good but im wanting it to be a little more peppier through out driveing in town and on the highway

never seen a 3.48 ratio before.....Ive definately seen 3.55. Yes, you'll gain some pep and rpms will raise slightly on the highway. Might even see better all around mileage.

3.45 is a axle code 84 on the door sticker..a 3.55 is a 8.8 rearend, what im finding is a 7.5 like the one i have in my truck now..i thought about a 3.73 but im thinking thats going to put my highway rpms too high for my liking..im wanting to stay between 2200 to 2300 rpms tops..

3.73 should be perfect go find an exploder axle with 3.73s and l/s and be set and you get disc breaks

Whoops...just say my typo. lol.

Anyway...what engine are you running? What size tires? What year pickup? I ask all this because my little brother has a 2.5L 4cyl with 3.73 stock and the truck has some decent pep in the city...and on the highway he's regularly getting high 20's mpg's on the freeway. That's even with smaller than stock tires and a higher revving engine on the highway.
