Hi guys!

After traveling to my vacation home this weekend, on the way back I heard a few different squeaks and noises on the way back and am somewhat concerned.

First is coming front front right wheel. It's hum or buffering sound whenever I apply the brakes and is heard . I am perplexed because i just replaced the pads, rotors, whole nine yards 3,000 miles ago...

Second sound is similar to the first but is happening all the time, can only be heard at slower speeds, 20-30mph. Sounds like something is rubbing every time the wheel rotates a full rotation, faster i go, the noise speeds up. Same as when i brake.

Lastly, a grinding noise is heard from below the cab, when gas is applied quickly. It's like there is some sort of lag, and then something kicking into gear. The noise is kind of similar to the clank when putting er in 4WL. You can also feel it in conjunction with the noise, somewhat of a vibration for about 2-3seconds.

I would check Hub Bearings. That's the noise mine made when they were going out.

 

The first two noises are from your Hub. I'd check it for play, but it probably needs replaced if your hearing it.

the third one, check the U-joints in your driveshaft.

 

sounds good, is this something i can do? or should it be done by an auto shop?

 

If you've got a floor jack, lift up the front of your truck.
Grab your tire on the very top and bottom. and try to move it. If it moves a ton then you've got a bad bearing.
If you've got a hub issue, while your truck is jacked up, grab your CV shaft, and move the tire, if the tire moves (without the CV shaft moving) any, you've got hub problems.

to check for play in the Driveshaft. park on level ground and get under your truck. push up and down on it and see if it moves. if it does, you may have a bad U-joint

 

alright, tried to wiggle the driveshaft but no luck... i dont think the u joints are the problem unfortunatly
