Whats the bad about it? I have 32's now and no problems.. Might get a deal on some 33's M/t's.. I dont drive hard and Rarely go offroad will my diff explode? Or do I have to get a 8.8right away

I think you will be okay. Like you said you stay on the road and don't drive hard.

If you try to push it I am sure it will blow eventually but everything has that chance.

I have a 4.0 5spd with 35's. And a 7.5 with 3.45 gears. Drive normal and you won't have any problems. But decide to show off like I did and drop it in 4lo with the hubs unlocked (on ashpalt) and dump the clutch and she'll die real quick. My truck never moved just blew out the spider gears. But since then I haven't been too hard on it and my new(er) 7.5 is holding up just fine.

I thought that all 4.0 liter rangers come from the factory with the 8.8 rear end?

BTW i blew out my 7.5 on my old 96 ranger 4x4 from doing burnouts and offroading all of the time. I had 32x11.5x15 BFG All Terrains with stock gears.

A friend of mine who used to be on here blew the hell out of his 7.5" when he had 33s. He was 2wd, 3.0L, 3.73 gears, and a manual transmission. The spider gears practically disintegrated when he was just taking a right turn.

You don't HAVE to upgrade your axle, but an 8.8" would be a pretty good idea anyways. You should be able to find one with 4.10 gears pretty easily, or you could go for an explorer one and get disc brakes at the same time!

yea, drive it normal and you'll be fine. I like to hear my tires chrip and well I had a 7.5" rear end. I say had. I broke the ABS ring which sent part of it into the ring and pinion gears and broke teeth off. It still worked for a while but I replaced it with an explorer axle. Much better axle. But be nice to the 7.5 and you'll be fine.

i had 33s on my ranger to begin with and a 7.5 i broke 5 front shafts with them but never had any problems out of the rear. I ran a 7.5 in my stang for a while until i changed it for safe measures. never broke that one and its a stick car ran 12.40s with a 351 windsor.
