Icon5 4x4 HI & 4x4 LOW lights flashing

My pickup did this to me once before and then quit later that day. Today It started doing it to me again. When I started driving home from work the 4x4 lights both together flashed 6 times then a few min later did it again. It did this all the way home.

I know from the last time it did it, If I tried to engage 4x4 it would do nothing. I know I need to replace the shift motor already cause it will no longer go to 4x4 low. Could the shift motor cause this or is it something else??

Any help here would be great.

Just so you know I have a 98 Ranger XLT 3.0 with a lift kit and run 33x12.5 R15 tires.

It could be the motor. Check all fuses first.

The fuses are all good in the truck.
