5 speed swap

My stupid 4r44e went out again for the last time. time for a change. I've read a couple of threads on here about guys doing 5 speed swaps, and i think that's the route i wanna take. I've got a 2000 xlt 3.0 flex fuel 4x4. I need to know what year 5 speed will work in my truck the easiest. I would like to make the swap look and perform as close to factory as i can get it. Does the PCM need to be switched out with one from a truck with a 5 speed? does it need to be from the same truck i get the donor transmission from? what needs to be done with the wiring harness to get it to work with the 5 speed? I'm familiar with most of what is involved in the swap except for the wiring.

ok i found out that i need to use a tranny from a ranger that had the 3.0 and obviosly a 4x4 in it, but i still don't know how the wiring needs to be done. do i need to change out the wiring harness or can i modify the one that's in there right now?
