5r55e, 5r44e, ford transmission case questions

i am currently about to attempt a 4x4 driveline swap on my 2008 ford ranger 3.0l 2wd and i need to know more about the transmission case differences between years, i realize the internals are quite similar. i am concerned about the connection of the tail end of my 5r44e trans to my 1354 manual t case from a 1996 b3 3.0l.

in the end i need an extension housing with bosses and no sensor, to connect the 2

>i need to know if the bolt patterns on the tail of the trans or on the 1354 changed at all in any years? will any 5r44e/55e bossed ext housing connect the 2?

>is any year A4LD similar to the 44e/55e? would it be a good as a donor for the output shaft also?

(EDIT: just found a great link of johns, must of missed it somehow, https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...put-shaft.html)

you can just rebuild yours and put a 4x4 tailshaft in it and a 4x4 housing, this is what i would recommend over getting a JY trans, especially for a truck that new

i was planning on picking up something i could milk for the parts i needed, im just making sure nothing major changed with the casting revisions over time. i doubt any year is different for those parts unless maybe something small was added or changed

2001+ Ranger manuals are the ones that have the OSS sensor hole in the extension housing. Ranger 5RxxE automatics have the OSS in the main transmission case, not in the extension housing.

I thought the OSS in the tail had something to do with the manual trans but I wasn't sure, I'm not having
much luck finding parts right now it's getting a little to cold to keep scavenging. but atleast I know now just to hunt for the auto components. Unless there was a part number somebody can pull for me then I could grab it alot easier
