Funny how they do that, why a different housing... ?

The old tired and true 9" could be built with anything, yes there were different size bearing but the basic axles could be built and built tuff.

get a 9".. 8.8s suck compared to them lol

 

I agree 100% BUT, for what I will be doing and the differences in connections, electrical that is, I think the 8.8 is the way to go.

the sterling 10.25 has a ring on the ring gear for the abs sensor...

 

And the ranger ABS sensor plug will plug right up to the sterling...

 

I just got ubolts made for my 8.8, 28 spline, its 2.75".

 

So, if I have an 8.8 from a Navajo (Ex-Sport), and IF they have 31 spline axles and they should be, the axle housing tubes will be 3.25" OD ?

no its not the axle tube for the 28 spline 8.8 is 3 inches and the 31 spline axle tube is 3.25 inches
