86 to 94 axle swap.. ????

I did a search and didnt find what i was looking for. I have a 1994 4x2 with the 2.3 and a 5 speed and was wondering if a rear axle out of a 1986 4x4 2.9 with a 5 speed will swap over?

My rear end in the 94 is shot and my dad has a 86 he's parting out so it would be easy to take his 86 rear end.

Thanks guys and if I need to get tag numbers off the axles i can tomorrow.

Icon14 Yes..........

Its a direct swap/bolt-in, I put a 87 Bronco II axle under my Son's 93, only difference you will notice is the tires tuck inside the wheelwell lil' more than stock.

BTW: He's runnin 275/60R15s on 15X8 wheels on rear & its got a flip-kit with aftermarket adjustable shackles so we could get the stance he wanted.
