Hi, I am looking at buying a small truck to tow a jetski. I found a 96 ford ranger extended cab, 2wd and white. It has around 90,000 miles and in fairly good shape. The problem is he says the auto tranny only has reverse and no forward gears. What would be the problem would it need a new transmission or a less costly fix? He wants $1000 obo for it. I was planning on going to look at it tomorrow, would like to know what I am getting into if I were to buy it.

$1000 is pretty cheap if it only needs a tranny rebuild... Rebuilt might cost between $1500-2000 (canadian)
