Icon5 99 XLT front end questions

How does the pulse vacuum system work? I understand vacuum is applied to the hub, but how does that actuate the locker? Does the driveaxle shift due to the vacuum and work as a push rod on the locker? I just replaced the hubs on my 99 Ranger XLT 4X4, as well as most of the vacuum lines involved with the hubs, and I still cannot get the lockers to work. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

2nd question, when I replaced the hubs, my Chiltons and Haynes both said to replace the drixeaxle retainer ring. Which I would, if I could find a place that sold them, including the dealer. The mechanic said they dont carry them because he has only sold 2 in 15 years. Any comments or words of advice?
Thank you

Ok, forget the pulse vacuum hubs, can anyone recommend some great bolt on lockers for a 99 Ranger?

AVM/ rugged ridge hubs are your only option that I'm aware of but they don't bolt on.
