A4LD Help

Ok, i do auto trans at a ford dealership so im not totally retarded, i have never worked on a trans of this vintage before and i have a few questions

it has a delay shifting into reverse and into drive that is followed by a slamming into gear, worse in drive. the shifts are very firm and the torque converter doesnt like to lock up when its cold. i have replaced the vacuum modulator because it was leaking but im not sure if i can adjust it or not, or how to go about this problem

there are alot of people saying they have this problem but i cant find a legitimate fix

i dont have a 4.0 and are you thinking of an AOD? because they never made an A4OD

a small block ford does not have the same bellhousing bolt pattern so it will not bolt up

i've also never heard of an a4OD. i have heard of an AOD like justin said and an aEOD. it's the electronic version of the AOD and came out (i wanna say) late 80s or early 90s.

a A4OD is a rebuilt AOD tranny

don`t ask me what parts were used to do that conversion, i do not know

advance adapters probably makes an adapter for that tranny swap

or you can probably ask them to make 1

Then your trying to bolt it to the wrong motor, if you put in a 302, problem solved!
