Icon8 NEED A4LD HELP!!!!

here is the issue, 89 ranger with 2-9, 2wd. trans. wont engage into drive after warmed up. in the morning everything works fine. but after the truck warms up it wont go into drive without reving the motor up pretty high and then the trans slams into drive HARD. otherwise the trans.works fine. no problems with reverse at all. i already tried the fluid and filter change but it didnt help. after some research im thinking a faulty lock up servo?? but im not a tranny guy so im just geussing. can anyone pleez tell me what needs to be done? like i said its just the one problem and it runs great after its into drive, so i cant see it needing a complete rebuild!! adjust bands? change servo?HELP ME PLEEZ!!!!!
