Annoying "clunk" when shifting from 1st to 2nd

My ranger is about 13 000 km, and since the beginning when i shift from 1st to 2nd it is almont impossible to make it without making this annoying clunk sound. It sounds like a loose in the drive shaft but it only happen form 1st to 2nd. Every other shift is silent. Any thought on what it can possibly be? It is possible that there's already something loose?!?

Slipyoke in driveshaft/gear lash. Get it moving faster in first.

My 07 NEVER did that. You are still under warranty, take it to a ford dealer and get them to take a look.

just means u guys arent driving properly. when i first got my ranger it did that. just take first gear up to between 3-3500 rpm and second falls in at about 2000 rpm with no problem. ranger is slow to come to idle so give it a second.

Also u can regrease the slip yoke per the how to on this forum.

your pinion to ring gear backlash is not adjusted properly

my truck did it until the head mechanic realized what it was
it was repaired under warranty
( it was pretty bad he said )

the carrier housing of your rear axle

the mechanic told me that 2008 was a bad year for mal-adjusted pinion set-ups

even driving at highway speeds i could plainly hear it
it was very annoying over time
my dealer mechanic fixed it up good ( no more clunking )
