Auto trans. Loud clunk in drive and reverse.. and squeeling...

2008 FX4 auto trans..

Problem is when i go to put the truck from park into drive it makes a clunk coming from the rear end before it engages. Does the same thing going from drive to reverse, or reverse to drive.

Also, when in gear.. say Drive, and i accelerate, a terrible squeeling and ticking noise comes fromt he rear end... at first i thought it was a belt slipping but stuck my head out the window and its definately the rear end.

truck still drives and shifts just fine, but something sounds terribly bad going in and out of gear in the rear end and under acceleration.

any ideas?? Im taking it in tomorrow to have it looked at but im curious here

I think I need this too. When I shift from reverse to drive, it pauses and you can hear it engage but you have to wait for it to finish before you can accelerate. However, when I shift from drive to reverse, the entire rear end of the truck shudders (almost like it feels if your rolling forward and you go to reverse and accelerate) except i am at a stop, then, if i press on the gas, it revs up and jerks hard, and then moves, almost as if the first clunk didn't even put it in gear. Ujoints? Still have dealer warranty...
