Auto Transmission Woes!!!

My 2004 Ranger XL 3.0 Auto has started taking its time to go into gear and slipping going into second or third if I give it much gas - seems to do ok in first just takes a few seconds to engage - sometimes goes in with a clunk - no unusual sounds other than revving up when it slips - seems I have to help it by easing off gas to help it shift. Hasn't left me stranded but I've been taking it easy - I have like 150 miles left on my 4 yr/100000 mile warrenty - I'm worried when I take it in I might get the run around as close to the end of the warrenty as it is - any suggestions as to the problem and what should I should say when I take it in? Thanks for any help

I would definately take it in before your warranty ends! Sounds like the clutchs are worn out and causing it to slip, but no way to be sure.

First thing to check, if you haven't already, is the tranny fluid level, that can cause problems if it's not topped off. (Check the level with the engine running)
