buell1238 09-30-2006 10:36 PM

i will get pics up to my computer has been down

xp1ik99 10-01-2006 07:17 AM

know when they are unlocked, is the front end basically totally disengaged as in nothing is spinning (ex. drivshaft. etc. etc.)????

buell1238 10-03-2006 09:07 AM

when i unlock them nothing is spinning that inculdes the drive shaft and front end

so yeah u are right

Kanoeking 10-03-2006 09:35 AM

Siiic! Im waiting for my AVM's to come....i tracked them while at work at UPS and they should be here by 10:45am tomorrow....according to the load manifest and tracking info

xp1ik99 10-03-2006 10:42 AM

ok heres one last question, if you have them locked it is basically like having a live axle front right??? if you drive with them locked will this be bad?? im curious because in the winter time sometimes when im driving i need 4wd than a minute later i wont so i dont want to have to get out and unlock them everytime....

TXranger4x4 10-03-2006 11:56 AM

how hard is it to install these......i am looking in to them

xp1ik99 10-03-2006 12:07 PM

very easy, just pop the old one off and put the new one on so i hear....

buell1238 10-04-2006 08:47 AM

you are right you just pop the old ones of and the new ones on u can drive around with them locked in it wont hurt anything as long as all your parts are goood your steering might feel alittle weird though it should not hurt anything though

I've always wondered if manual hubs on newer rangers would help the gas mileage, make any difference of yours?

xp1ik99 10-04-2006 06:47 PM

i dont have them yet but ive heard they dont help at all with gas milage.....

Lone Ranger 93 10-04-2006 08:31 PM

^ you'd think they would tho right? cuz now your truck isn't pushin the force required to turn the front axles all the time if they are unlocked...

Kanoeking 10-05-2006 11:05 AM

I got mine and just installed them yesterday, they are sweet. Im in the process of making a "how to" on them so, if your patient give me a bit and ill have pics and instructions

so you would think, but than look at 2000 1/2 and up rangers, they have a live axle set up and everything is turning all the time and they get the same if not better gas mileage.....

wayne are you getting a vibration in your front driveshaft? i just installed mine and it sucks. actually installed it twice.

texasfan1000 10-05-2006 03:03 PM

can you put the avm's on any ranger, ie one w/ electronic switch, im new to all of this.

Kanoeking 10-05-2006 03:49 PM

Nathan, your ranger year you can put the AVM hubs on, the years that the AVM hub will fit are 1998-00.5 . Rangers newer than 2000.5 have what is known as a "live axle" setup, where their front "Hubs" are permanently "locked" in. Lockout hubs have their own benefits and and catches, but so does the "live axle" set up, but i assure you that its much cheaper for you to buy the AVM hubs than it is to convert over to a live axle set up....oh and btw the "PVH Fix Mod" only makes your hubs permanently locked, but that lock is no where near as strong as the actual "live axle".

texasfan1000 10-05-2006 03:58 PM

so i take it that the avm's are a good investment

texasfan1000 10-05-2006 04:03 PM

where is the cheapest place to buy them, jc whitney

buell1238 10-05-2006 07:10 PM

the drive shaft makes no vidrations they said that if you get one out of a explorer that there might be so vibrations i would go down to a shop and get it ballanced
there are to places that i found to buy them i got mine of of tellico4x4 website for $118 shiped it is will worth the envestment

zabeard 10-05-2006 08:37 PM

you have a superlift driveshaft. looks ust like mine that i just bought.

buell1238 10-05-2006 10:29 PM

i would take it back to super lift and tell them to fix it

texasfan1000 10-06-2006 01:50 AM

does anyone ever order from jc whitney they are only $89 bucks
